Operating the Emergency Alert Sentinel

When the local radio station you have selected sends an Emergency Alert System (EAS) activation signal, the Sentinel automatically turns on so you can hear the emergency alert message. At the end of the message, the station sends an end of message signal that returns it to the "Ready" status. Located on the front of the sentinel are four lights that indicate the status of the unit.

A large red alert light will flash whenever an actual EAS emergency announcement has been broadcast.

A yellow light indicates that the mandatory FCC weekly or monthly test signal has been received. This is your weekly reminder that the Sentinel is properly tuned, standing guard, and ready for action.

Two green lights indicate power and station reception.

The AC adapter included with the unit powers the radio. In addition, the Emergency Alert Sentinel has been designed to function for several days on standard AA batteries should AC
power be lost.

You are covered DAY or NIGHT!
